BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A late-night crash on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn has left three teenagers dead and four other people injured, according to police.
The violent collision happened around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday near 65th Street in the Bay Ridge area as two vehicles were traveling eastbound.
Police said a black Cadillac Escalade carrying five teenage boys collided with a Honda HR-V. The impact left multiple people seriously injured and triggered an emergency response along the busy Brooklyn roadway.
Three of the teenagers inside the Escalade were critically injured in the crash and later died.
Three Teens Die From Their Injuries
According to police, the three victims who died were 16, 17 and 18 years old.
They were rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in critical condition following the collision. Despite receiving medical treatment, all three later succumbed to their injuries.
The deaths have turned what was already a serious late-night crash into a devastating loss involving three young lives. Police have not immediately determined which of the teenagers was driving the Cadillac at the time of the collision.
That detail could become an important part of the ongoing investigation as authorities work to reconstruct the moments leading up to the crash.
Two Other Teenagers Injured in Escalade
The Cadillac was carrying two other teenagers who survived the collision. Police said the two youth males, 16 and 18 years old, were taken to Maimonides Hospital for treatment.
Unlike the three teenagers who were critically injured, the two surviving teens were listed in stable condition. Authorities have not released the identities of any of the teenagers involved.
The crash remains under investigation, and police are expected to examine the vehicles, roadway conditions and available evidence to determine exactly how the collision happened.
Two Women in Honda Also Injured
The Cadillac was not the only vehicle with occupants hurt in the crash. The Honda HR-V was occupied by two women, including a 46-year-old driver and a 44-year-old passenger.
Both women suffered injuries and were transported to NYU Langone Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, police said.
The collision therefore left seven people injured or killed, including the three teenagers who died.
The circumstances surrounding the impact, including what happened immediately before the two vehicles collided, have not been fully released.

No arrests have been made in connection with the deadly Belt Parkway crash. Police are continuing to investigate the collision and determine the circumstances that led to the two vehicles crashing near 65th Street.
