A special camp for children whose parents have suffered from cancer is opening at Christopher Newport University.
This is the first year a chapter of Camp Kesem will be available at CNU Aug. 1- Aug. 6. It is for ages six to 18, said Graciela Greger, Co-Director of the camp.
This year, due to COVID-19, with the exception of the first day, the camp will be online, she noted. The camp consists of games, arts and crafts, dance party and a time to talk called Cabin Chat, Gregor said.
Gregor, a rising junior at CNU, was inspired to start a chapter at the university, because she attended Camp Kasem at George Mason University in Fairfax. Her father passed away from pancreatic cancer.
Currently the camp is accepting applications. For more information www.campkesem.org
