Here Comes Summer

By Scott Acker Leave a Comment

Outdoor recreation is easier now that Phase 2 has started.

In Hampton, Sandy Bottom Nature Park opened Monday with individual campsites available. Room rentals, kayak and yurt rentals, and group camping remain unavailable.

Get ready to take a swing at a golf ball at The Hamptons and The Woodlands golf courses now that they’re open. Hampton also has opened their public tennis courts.

While teams cannot organize competitions at athletic fields, practice drills are permissible.

To get a bit of vitamin sea, hit the beach at Fort Monroe or Buckroe Beach. You can also cast a line at Armistead Pointe and Sandy Bottom Nature Park.

If you’re ready to hit the wheels, the BMX track at Gosnold’s Hope Park and the Woodlands skate park will open Monday.

The Noland Trail and Mariners’ Museum Park in Newport News will reopen June 15. Park officials ask trail goers to stay six feet apart. Restrooms will not be open.

Large gatherings, playing sports, boating and fishing are not permitted.
