With schools closed due to COVID-19, high school seniors lost out on many celebrations.
In effort to stay busy and positive, Menchville High School senior Ashlyn Herring began creating personalized college canvases for her friends as gifts.

Now the soon-to-be University of Virginia freshman has a business. She is selling them for $15.
Each canvas has the senior’s first name surrounded by the logo of the college that they plan to attend in the fall.
Herring said after she created a few, her mother, Shelley Herring, encouraged her to sell them. Currently, she has several orders.
She paints the logos freehand. So far, the hardest logo she recreated was Methodist University in North Carolina.

Jessica Sigsbee is another Menchville High School senior who started a creative business. She is making custom stickers with a collegiate twist.

Sigsbee uses an app on her phone or draws the design on her tablet. She prints them out on sticker paper. Using a Cricut cutting machine, Sigsbee is able to customize the shapes.
Like Herring, the College of William and Mary bound freshman started making them as gifts for friends. Thus far she has completed 75 orders.
The stickers sell for $2.30 for each, $4.15 for two stickers and $11 for five stickers. To place an order, go to her Instagram, SigsbeeStickers
