Award Winning Film Maker Ty Cooper of Lifeview Marketing and Visuals and Daniel James, Creative Director at HERD Ventures, are on a mission to capture Virginians’ stories on how COVID-19 has affected their lives.
It does not matter if the subject tests positive, they want 30 stories on how what Cooper refers to “one of America’s darkest hours” captured in short videos titled “Your COVID Story”.
“I want people to tell me how it has impacted their lives. Sharing these stories can do a lot more good than one may imagine. Everyone has a story,” said Cooper, the executive director.
In complying with CDC guidelines for social distancing, the team is using long lenses and a 10-foot boom pole to interview people outside – either in their front yard or in a public place. They will also wear face masks.

Each story will run 30 to 60 seconds. They are talking to people from Charlottesville to Virginia Beach.
So far, Cooper has heard interesting stories, including a heartwarming one involving a father with six children who said the COVID-19 helped put his life in perspective.
“He was working all the time. Many days he only saw his kids when he took them to school in the morning. Because of COVID, he has to stay home with them. It has given him a chance to appreciate being with them,” Cooper said.
However, he realizes that is a rare story.
“I know there are many out there that this is strangling them financially,” Cooper added.
The videos will be aired on paid mediums such as online and advertisements. Cooper noted that time slots are being secured by purchasing advertising now. To do so, they are seeking to raise funds through online crowd sourcing, general donations and through Lifeview Marketing and Visuals internal fund, where Cooper is creative director.
