SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A quiet Sunday morning at a Pennsylvania home turned into a deadly scene after police said a 29-year-old man attacked his mother on the front porch while she was having coffee and letting the family dog outside.
Christin Hamilton was found dead at the home in Sewickley Township around 9 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.
Pennsylvania State Police said surveillance footage captured what began as a verbal confrontation between Hamilton and her son, Jakob Korber, before escalating into a prolonged physical assault.
Hamilton’s daughter was the one who discovered her mother on the porch and alerted police.
State Police Trooper Steve Limani told that Hamilton had been wearing a towel and drinking her morning coffee shortly before the alleged attack began.
What started as an ordinary morning quickly became a devastating tragedy for the family.
Police Say Attack Lasted More Than an Hour
According to authorities, the surveillance footage showed Korber allegedly assaulting his mother for more than an hour. Police said he used his hands, feet and multiple objects that were on the porch during the attack.
Trooper Limani said Hamilton pleaded for her life during the assault, but investigators believe her calls for help went unanswered. Limani described the incident as an extended period of suffering and said Korber allegedly showed no mercy during the attack.
Hamilton was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not indicated that anyone else was physically involved in the assault, while investigators continue to piece together what led to the confrontation between mother and son.
Daughter Discovers Her Mother on Porch
Hamilton’s daughter arrived at the home after the attack and found her mother bleeding and unclothed on the porch, according to police.
She also reportedly told investigators that Korber had made threats against both her and her mother in the days leading up to the killing.
Those reported threats are now an important part of the investigation as authorities examine what happened before the fatal confrontation.
The discovery of Hamilton’s body prompted an immediate police response and a search for Korber, who was no longer at the home.
Investigators began checking the surrounding property as they attempted to locate him.
Suspect Allegedly Changed Clothes After Attack
Police said Korber was later captured on surveillance cameras moving around the property following the alleged assault. Investigators also believe he changed his clothes after the attack.
According to court documents cited by local outlet TribLive, authorities searching for Korber believe he eventually fell asleep in a nearby field.
The search continued throughout the day as officers worked to locate the suspect. Korber ultimately surrendered to police Sunday evening and was taken into custody.
Police Say Korber Confessed
After being detained, Korber allegedly made a statement acknowledging responsibility for his mother’s death. According to a police affidavit, Korber told investigators that if Hamilton was dead, he was the person who caused it.
He now faces a criminal homicide charge in connection with his mother’s death. Korber is being held without bail at the Westmoreland County Prison while the criminal case moves forward.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 14. The homicide charge remains an allegation, and the case will proceed through the Pennsylvania court system.
Family Left Searching for Answers
The killing has left Hamilton’s family facing a devastating loss while investigators continue examining the events surrounding her death. The reported threats made before the attack are likely to receive further attention as prosecutors build their case against Korber.
