Lee’s Summit, Missouri — Costco is continuing its warehouse expansion across North America, with 10 new U.S. locations and four additional stores in Canada scheduled to open over the next two months.
The new warehouses are spread across several states and Canadian provinces, giving shoppers in multiple communities a closer Costco option. The company’s new locations information lists five U.S. stores expected to open in October 2026, followed by another five in November.
The expansion is part of Costco’s broader plan to keep adding warehouses domestically and internationally as the membership-based retailer grows.
Five new Costco stores are coming in October
Costco’s October expansion includes locations in five different U.S. communities.
The stores are planned for:
- Lee’s Summit, Missouri — October 2026
- The Colony, Texas — October 2026
- Amherst, New York — October 2026
- Lawrence, Kansas — October 2026
- Camarillo, California — October 2026
One of the most anticipated openings is in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.
The new warehouse will mark the first Costco location in the Buffalo metropolitan region, according to the information provided. Residents in the area have reportedly been waiting for a Costco of their own, with the closest existing warehouse to Buffalo located roughly 75 miles away in Rochester, New York.
For shoppers who have previously had to travel outside the region for a Costco run, the Amherst opening could significantly reduce that drive.
Five more U.S. locations planned for November
The expansion will continue into November, when Costco plans to open another five U.S. warehouses.
The announced locations are:
- S. Meridian, Idaho
- Vallejo, California
- Chandler, Arizona
- Newport News, Virginia
- Franklin, Wisconsin
The openings would add Costco warehouses to communities across the western, southern and eastern parts of the country.
For shoppers in these areas, the new stores could mean easier access to Costco’s warehouse selection, including groceries, household products and other merchandise sold through the membership-based retailer.
Canada is getting four new Costco stores
Costco’s expansion isn’t limited to the United States.
Canada, which already has more than 100 Costco locations, is also scheduled to receive four new warehouses. The upcoming stores will be located in Alberta and Ontario.
The announced Canadian locations are:
- Northeast Edmonton, Alberta
- Lloydminster, Alberta
- East Windsor, Ontario
- Wasaga Beach, Ontario
The additions will further expand Costco’s presence in two of Canada’s major provinces.

Costco continues targeting long-term growth
Costco’s latest openings are part of a larger expansion strategy.
During its May 28 earnings call, the company revised its target for new warehouse openings to 26 locations, while maintaining its longer-term goal of opening 30 or more net new warehouses annually in the coming years.
Costco President and Chief Executive Officer Ron Vachris described the company’s approach during the earnings call, saying:
“Our real estate operations team continues to focus on increasing our pipeline of new warehouses both domestically and internationally. As we target 30+ net new openings per year in the coming years,”
Costco’s growing warehouse network also comes alongside a large membership base. The company has reported 928 locations worldwide and 82.9 million paid members.
The retailer currently offers two membership options. The Executive Membership costs $130 annually, while the Gold Star Membership costs $65 per year, with different benefits attached to each tier.
With 14 new locations planned across the U.S. and Canada over the next two months, Costco’s latest expansion gives shoppers in these communities another reason to watch for opening dates and store announcements.
