East Point, Georgia — A Georgia man convicted of killing his McDonald’s co-worker in what prosecutors described as a revenge attack will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Devin Riley, 35, was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 50 years after being convicted in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Quintavious Clark, who worked alongside Riley at a McDonald’s restaurant in East Point.
The case centered on an argument involving Clark and a woman who worked as the restaurant’s manager. Prosecutors said the woman was Riley’s girlfriend at the time and that Clark became involved in a verbal dispute with her.
According to prosecutors, Riley allegedly decided to retaliate against Clark days after the confrontation.
Prosecutors Say Riley Returned to McDonald’s for Revenge
The fatal shooting happened during the early morning hours of Feb. 7, 2025.
Prosecutors said Riley arrived at the McDonald’s in a red sedan at around 2 a.m., when Clark was sitting inside his vehicle during a break.
Riley allegedly drove through the restaurant parking lot before pulling alongside Clark’s vehicle. He then opened fire on Clark, killing him.
The shooting was captured by surveillance cameras at the restaurant, providing investigators with footage of the deadly encounter. Although the video captured the shooting, prosecutors acknowledged that Riley’s face could not be seen in the surveillance footage.
Investigators instead relied on other evidence to identify the person they said was behind the attack.
Rental Car Tracker Became Key Evidence
According to prosecutors, the red sedan Riley allegedly used was a rental vehicle equipped with a tracker.
That tracking technology provided investigators with geolocation information that helped establish where the vehicle had been before and after the shooting.
Investigators reportedly followed the vehicle’s movements and traced it to the home of another woman with whom Riley was staying. The car was located there before the shooting.
Prosecutors said Riley then allegedly returned to the same apartment after killing Clark and removed the vehicle’s license plates. The combination of the vehicle’s location data, the surveillance footage and other evidence helped investigators build their case against Riley.

Jailhouse Calls Became Part of the Case
Riley has continued to maintain his innocence.
In a phone call from behind bars, Riley denied responsibility for Clark’s killing. Prosecutors, however, said statements made during his jailhouse phone calls helped convince them that he was responsible.
The case therefore did not rely solely on the surveillance video.
While acknowledging that the person seen in the footage could not be positively identified by facial appearance, prosecutors pointed to the broader collection of evidence connecting Riley to the rental vehicle and the events surrounding the shooting.
The evidence ultimately resulted in Riley’s conviction.
Prosecutor Calls Shooting “a very stupid crime”
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis described the killing as “a very stupid crime.” The statement came as prosecutors outlined the evidence they said linked Riley to the shooting and explained how investigators were able to identify him despite the limitations of the surveillance footage.
The circumstances surrounding the killing also highlighted how investigators were able to use modern tracking technology alongside traditional investigative methods.
The rental vehicle’s tracking data helped establish a timeline, while surveillance footage documented the shooting itself.
Riley Will Spend the Rest of His Life in Prison
Following his conviction, Riley received a sentence of life without the possibility of parole, followed by an additional 50 years. The sentence means Riley will remain behind bars for the rest of his life for the killing of Clark.
The case began with a workplace dispute and escalated into a deadly confrontation days later, according to prosecutors.
For Clark’s family and those who knew him, the sentencing marks the conclusion of a criminal case that began with his death at the East Point restaurant in February 2025.
