HOUSTON, Texas — A pregnant woman is recovering after authorities say she was stabbed during a visit to a home in northeast Houston, where a 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the alleged attack.
Carrieale Williams was arrested Thursday, Aug. 20, after law enforcement officials were dispatched to a home on Dona Lane following a reported “life-in-danger call.”
The victim’s identity has not been released publicly. Records from the third precinct of the Harris County Constable’s Office state that the woman had been invited to the home to visit Williams.
What happened next allegedly escalated into a confrontation involving a knife.
Woman Allegedly Stabbed During Confrontation
Investigators said Williams had a knife that she allegedly attempted to hide from the victim. According to the records, the pregnant woman tried to reach for the knife, and Williams allegedly used it to stab the woman in the face.
The victim reportedly suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds to her face, arms and hands.
Deputies responded to the home and the woman was transported to a hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities have not publicly identified the woman or disclosed how far along she is in her pregnancy. Investigators also have not released a motive for the alleged stabbing.
Victim and Suspect Reportedly Knew Each Other
Authorities said Williams and the victim knew one another through church. Court documents allege that the pregnant woman was dating Williams’ ex-boyfriend.
That relationship was referenced during Williams’ court appearance on Friday, Aug. 21, when a Harris County judge discussed the allegations against her.
“The allegations are that you used a knife to stab this complainant. Allegedly, this person is pregnant, allegedly dating your ex-boyfriend,” the judge said in court, per Click2Houston.
The judge also raised concerns about an earlier allegation involving Williams and another pregnant woman.
Judge Raises Previous Assault Allegation
During Friday’s court hearing, the judge stated that Williams had previously been accused of assaulting another pregnant woman.
“I do note that you have a prior assault of a pregnant person from just last year involving a different complainant,” the judge said.
The earlier case reportedly involved Williams’ sister as the alleged victim. Court records indicate the case was later dismissed at the complainant’s request after Williams completed a 10-hour anger management course.
The judge also said during the hearing that Williams was allegedly pregnant herself at the time of Thursday’s incident. The circumstances surrounding the earlier case and the latest allegations were discussed as Williams appeared before the court.
Williams Faces Aggravated Assault Charge
Williams has been charged with aggravated assault, according to court records. Charging documents allege that she intentionally, knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to the woman by stabbing her with a deadly weapon.
The charge remains an allegation, and the criminal case will proceed through the court system.
Authorities have not announced additional details about the circumstances that led to the confrontation or what may have happened immediately before the alleged stabbing.
Williams is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 24. The victim’s condition beyond the initial report of non-life-threatening injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
