NEW YORK CITY, NY — A routine delivery at Barstool Sports’ Manhattan headquarters reportedly turned into a shocking physical confrontation Monday when an Uber Eats courier allegedly attacked a security guard inside the company’s office.
The incident happened at the company’s Midtown office on Seventh Avenue, where police were called at around 2 p.m. following a verbal dispute that escalated into violence.
According to the NYPD, a 31-year-old man punched a 45-year-old man multiple times in the face.
Barstool founder and president Dave Portnoy shared video of the confrontation on X, describing the incident as a “crazy scene” at the company’s headquarters.
Portnoy said the confrontation began after the delivery driver became involved in a dispute with a Barstool employee over her order.
We had a crazy scene today at Barstool World Hq. An uber eats driver got in a fight with Gia in the hallway over her order. Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him. Beat him up pretty good. @stoolsalesguy saved the day… pic.twitter.com/P7XUpDR8Tg

Security Guard Allegedly Attacked After Asking Driver to Leave
According to Portnoy, the company’s security guard, identified as Dan, went into the hallway after the dispute and asked the delivery driver to leave.
“We had a crazy scene today at Barstool World Hq,” Portnoy wrote. “An uber eats driver got in a fight with Gia in the hallway over her order. Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him.”
Video posted by Portnoy shows the confrontation quickly becoming physical. The footage appears to show the delivery man knocking the security guard to the floor and dragging him across the ground.
The courier then gets down on his knees and repeatedly strikes the guard in the face, according to the footage. The disturbing scene continued as the security guard struggled on the floor.
Barstool Employees Rush to Stop the Fight
Several Barstool employees eventually intervened as the confrontation continued. According to the video, three employees jumped into the hallway and attempted to restrain the delivery driver.
Even while employees were trying to hold him back, the man continued swinging, the footage shows. The staff members eventually managed to pull the courier away from the security guard and subdue him.
They then called 911, bringing police and emergency personnel to the Midtown headquarters. The security guard was treated at the scene, according to police.
Portnoy later offered a lighthearted update about the condition of the injured employee.
“Danny may need a few stiches [sic] and a couple beers,” Portnoy said about the guard. “All in all another day at the Stool.”
Police Take Person of Interest Into Custody
The NYPD said a person of interest was taken into custody following the incident. Authorities have not publicly established all the circumstances that led to the confrontation, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police said the dispute began verbally before becoming physical, but the exact events leading up to the alleged assault remain unclear.
The video circulating online has provided a dramatic look at the confrontation, but investigators will still need to establish what happened before the camera began recording and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
Uber Removes Courier From Platform
Uber said it took action after learning about the incident.
“We are horrified by the conduct displayed. Violence is never tolerated, and we’ve removed the courier’s access to the Uber platform,” an Uber spokesperson told The Post in a statement. “We stand ready to assist police however we can.”
The company’s decision means the courier no longer has access to the Uber platform, while authorities continue investigating the incident.
Portnoy also used the incident to take a sarcastic swipe at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whom he has previously said he would “love to” challenge in a mayoral election.
“Shoutout Mandami’s [sic] NYC,” Portnoy wrote.
For now, police have not released additional details about potential charges or the identities of those involved beyond the ages provided.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine exactly what sparked the confrontation and what happened before the violent encounter was captured on camera.
