Key West, Florida — A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer has been fired after he was arrested early Friday morning on a felony aggravated stalking charge involving his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
Carlos Ysidro was arrested by Key West police shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said the incident began with repeated calls and text messages to Ysidro’s former girlfriend before he allegedly went to her home when she did not respond.
Officer Accused of Repeatedly Contacting Ex-Girlfriend
According to authorities, Ysidro allegedly repeatedly called and texted his ex-girlfriend before going to her residence. Investigators said that after receiving no response, Ysidro went to the woman’s home and repeatedly knocked on the door.
Authorities also accused him of looking through the windows of the residence, an action that allegedly caused the woman to fear for her safety. The woman was inside the home with her two children, ages 17 and 20, when the incident occurred, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Concerned about what was happening outside the residence, she contacted 911 for assistance. Key West police subsequently responded and arrested Ysidro on the aggravated stalking charge.
Corrections Officer Was Terminated
Following the arrest, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Ysidro was terminated from his position.
Ysidro had been employed by the Sheriff’s Office since Dec. 15, 2025, meaning he had been with the agency for less than a year when the arrest occurred.
Authorities also said he was still a probationary employee at the time of his arrest. The Sheriff’s Office did not indicate that Ysidro had completed his probationary period or moved into permanent employment status before the incident.
The immediate termination reflects the agency’s decision to take employment action following the allegations and arrest.
Sheriff Says Behavior Was Unacceptable
Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay addressed the case in a statement following Ysidro’s arrest.
“This type of behavior is not acceptable for anyone, especially our employees,” Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a statement. “We remain committed to informing the public openly and honestly, regardless of the circumstances, and taking immediate action when something like this takes place.”
The sheriff’s comments emphasized the department’s position that employees are expected to meet the same standards of conduct expected of others.
The agency also said it was committed to being transparent with the public about the incident despite Ysidro’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation Led to Felony Arrest
The allegations resulted in a felony aggravated stalking charge against Ysidro after police investigated the woman’s report and responded to her call for help.
According to authorities, the alleged conduct involved repeated attempts to contact the woman, followed by Ysidro’s arrival at her residence and actions around the home.
The woman told authorities that the behavior made her fear for her own safety and the safety of her children, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Ysidro was booked into jail following his arrest.
An arrest and criminal charge are allegations, and the case will proceed through the legal system. The charge itself does not establish guilt, and any final determination will be made through the court process.
For the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, however, the employment decision has already been made. Officials said Ysidro is no longer employed by the agency.
The case remains under the attention of local authorities as the legal process moves forward.
